Impact of U.S. government shutdown on amendments to Contract Specifications for Futures Contracts and Options Contracts at Eurex Deutschland

Eurex Circular 090/25 Impact of U.S. government shutdown on amendments to Contract Specifications for Futures Contracts and Options Contracts at Eurex Deutschland

1. Introduction

Due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown and the resulting impact on the operations of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland has decided to suspend the previously announced amendments to the Contract Specifications for Futures Contracts and Options Contracts at Eurex Deutschland for “Systematic Quantitative Index Strategies (QIS) Futures” until further notice.

The delay is driven by regulatory requirements set by the CFTC which are applicable to Derivative Clearing Organisations (DCOs). As Eurex Clearing AG falls under the DCOs’ regulatory framework, the clearing service of the new offering cannot proceed as initially planned for Monday, 27 October 2025.

The new introduction date will be communicated once the U.S. government shutdown has concluded.

2. Required action

Participants are recommended to completely analyze the potential impact in their internal systems and procedures of the above changes.
